class=\"premium-modal-box-modal-body\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Verena Ross is the Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). She took up the role on 1 November 2021 and is responsible for representing the Authority as well as preparing the work of and chairing its Board of Supervisors and Management Board.<br \/>Between 2011 and 2021 Verena Ross served as ESMA\u2019s first Executive Director, when she was responsible for building up the organisation and overseeing its day to day running.<br \/>Prior to this, Verena held a number of senior posts in the UK\u2019s Financial Services Authority (FSA) and was a member of the FSA\u2019s Executive Committee. Verena joined the FSA in 1998 to run the Executive Chairman\u2019s office during the regulator\u2019s start-up phase and was briefly a seconded advisor to the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission in 2000. She held various positions in the FSA\u2019s Markets Division and was Director of Strategy &amp; Risk Division before becoming Director of the International Division.<br \/>Verena is a German national. In this context, John represents the European Commission on the Economic and Financial Committee and the Financial Services Committee, which report to EU Finance Ministers. He also represents the Commission on the Financial Stability Board, which reports to G20 Finance Ministers. He attends the European Systemic Risk Board and is a permanent observer on the Single Resolution Board.<\/p><p>John has a master\u2019s degree in economics from University College Dublin. Besides that she is the Champion of the IAIS Fintech Forum.\u00a0<\/p><p>Prior to this role Petra was Division Director of Insurance Supervision at De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB, the Dutch Central Bank). Petra joined DNB in February 2007 as a policy advisor, contributing to the development of Solvency II. In 2013 she became Head Insurance Policy and in 2015 she was appointed as Head of the DNB Expert Center for Fit &amp; Proper assessments. In February 2017 Petra started as Director of Payments and Market. Prior to joining the Dutch Central Bank Petra had an international career as a financial advisor to emerging economies.<\/p><p>Prior to being appointed as EIOPA Chairperson Petra was an Alternate Member of the EIOPA Board of Supervisors. She was also the Chair of the EIOPA Policy Committee. Before that she participated in several EIOPA and CEIOPS working groups and fulfilled some international roles including Chair of the FSB fmiCBCM (recovery &amp; resolution for CCPs), member of the BIS Committee for Payments and Market Infrastructures, member of the ECB Market Infrastructures Board, and member of the IAIS Technical Committee.<\/p><p>Petra has a European Masters in Law &amp; Economics and a Masters in Russian Studies. She was rapporteur for the 2019 annual competition policy report and shadow rapporteur for the 2020 report on the Capital Markets Union. She is also Chair of the delegation for relations with Canada and a member of the delegation for relations with the United States.<\/p><p>St\u00e9phanie is also a member of the Calvados Departmental Council. Prior to her election as an MEP in 2019, she was Mayor of Saint-Contest, and a Vice-President of the urban community Caen la Mer.<\/p><p>Prior to that, St\u00e9phanie worked as an advisor on international affairs in the office of Bruno Lasserre, former President of the French Competition Authority. She was admitted to the Paris Bar in 2004, specialising in competition law, and worked in international law firms. Annemie chaired the ESMA Corporate Reporting Standing Committee and is an alternate member of the ESMA Board of Supervisors.<\/p><p>Prior to the appointment in her current role and after a career start at an international law firm, Annemie held different positions at the Belgian financial regulators that preceded the FSMA. She was initially active in prudential supervision, and then evolved into the investigation of market abuse cases and into management.
